Passengers on LA-Bound Flight Survey Giant Palisades Fire Smoke Cloud

The Palisades Fire burning in Los Angeles had grown to 1,325 acres with zero containment by Sunday afternoon, May 16, according to the LA County Fire Department.

Multiple communities in the area had been placed under mandatory evacuation the previous evening.

According to the LA Times, local police were questioning a possible arson suspect in connection with the fire on Sunday.

This footage was captured on a flight from San Francisco to Los Angeles as the fire raged on Saturday, May 15.

A passenger on the flight, Shraddha Umeshrao Kulkarni, told Storyful that the “skies were pretty clear” as her flight started its descent into Los Angeles. However, she then witnessed a “visible patch of smoke and black emerging clouds from a distance,” as they approached landing. Credit: Shraddha Umeshrao Kulkarni via Storyful
