John Sachs was aboard the cruise ship Azamara Pursuit as it docked in Venice on July 7, where it encountered some stormy weather.
Sachs recorded the scene on deck as what he said were 60 mph winds howled, sending sun lounger mattresses flying about.
Sachs told Storyful how the captain responded to this extreme weather. “He immediately brought up the gang plank and terminated anyone from leaving or boarding the vessel,” he said.
In a separate incident on the same day in the city, the Costa Deliziosa ship had a near miss with a dock and another vessel when what Costa Cruises said were “violent gusts” disrupted its course. Credit: John Sachs via Storyful
