Former Millfield pupil and Mendip golfer, Patience Rhodes, has retained her place in the England Women’s squad for the 2024/25 campaign. Patience, along with her sister Mimi, has been part of the England setup in both the girls' and women's squads over the years. However, Patience will be flying solo this time, as Mimi has turned professional.

The 20-year-old, who plays at Burnham & Berrow when back in Somerset, is one of six US-based players currently in the nine-player England squad. Patience is currently studying at Arizona State University.

Both Rhodes sisters were part of the Great Britain & Ireland side, which won the Curtis Cup at the beginning of September, having also helped England Women to Home Internationals success the previous month. As for Patience, she also won the St Rule Trophy in 2023, while helping Europe win the Patsy Hankins Trophy against Asia/Pacific.

Patience was part of the England squad which took part in the European Girls’ Team Championship in 2022, before progressing to play for the Ladies’ team in both 2023 and 2024, where England won silver and bronze, respectively.

In addition to these achievements, Patience won the Women’s Home Internationals with England last year and continued her success into 2024 with a top-ten finish at the South American Amateur in January and third place at the Dr Donnis Thompson Invitational in March.

England Gold women’s performance manager, Becca Hembrough, said: “2024 has been a great year for our women and girls, with a gold in the European Girls’ Team Championship and a bronze in the Women’s Team Championship, while both England Women and Girls won at their respective Home Internationals. Not just that, but we’ve had the likes of Lottie Woad winning the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and competing at majors, and alongside Patience and Mimi, helping GB&I win back the Curtis Cup.

“With three of our women going on to become professionals, it is a testament to the great work that the England Golf coaching team does in helping these young players go as far as they can in the amateur game, before going on to realise their dreams in professional golf.”
