Patrols increased after man spotted taking photos outside school

POLICE are investigating reports of a man taking photos near a school in Southampton.

On Friday, reports were made to police of a suspicious man standing on Foundry Lane.

It was suspected that he was taking photos in the vicinity of Foundry Lane Primary School.

Now police are patrolling the area and are investigating to establish the circumstances of the incident.

Southampton Neighbourhood Police Sergeant Matthew Deakin said: "We understand that this type of incident will cause concern in the community.

“Please be reassured that we are investigating this report and are looking to identify the man to establish the full circumstances.

“Officers will be patrolling the area and speaking to people. If you have any concerns or any information, do not hesitate to approach us.”

The incident comes just weeks after two men in a white van slowed their vehicle next to a ten year-old-girl who was walking on Foundry Lane.

There was no physical contact with the girl but she was distressed by the incident.

Anyone with information about the incident on Friday is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44220188857.

The force is also encouraging anyone who witnesses something suspicious in their local area to contact police via 101, or its website.
