Patrons Sing and Dance at Darkened California Bar During Power Outage

Customers at a bar in Boulder Creek, California, found a way to have fun despite the widespread power outages that forced many businesses to shut their doors on Wednesday, October 9.

“Dry, windy weather” prompted Pacific Gas and Electric Company to shut off power to around 750,000 customers in California for an unknown amount of time in an attempt to reduce the risk of wildfires.

But the patrons of Joe’s Bar still managed to have a good time. This video shows people dancing in the candlelit establishment as others can be heard singing Otis Redding’s (Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay at the tavern’s “Neighborhood Night,” which featured an “acoustic jam circle” wherein patrons were encouraged to sing along with “campfire favorites.” Credit: Christopher Salas/KSBW via Storyful
