Paul Daniels Funeral: Magician Is Laid To Rest With Heartfelt Note From Wife Debbie McGee

A private funeral service for late magician Paul Daniels took place today with dozens of friends and relatives turning out to pay their final respects to the iconic British entertainer.

The hearse arrived at Chilterns Crematorium, Buckinghamshire shortly after 12.15pm, as his wife, cloaked in black, exited a limousine to lead the tearful funeral procession.

While the mourners prepared to take the seats for the service, the ivory-white coffin marked with two joker playing cards was carried into Milton Chapel.

The casket was adorned with a beautiful bed of red roses, a photograph of Debbie McGee and a handwritten note from the widow, which read: “Love you always, Debbie xxx.”

A silver wand was placed on top of a blue suede pillow in tribute to Mr Daniels’ much celebrated profession as one of the nation’s best-loved entertainers.

Among the crowds were Daniels’ nephews and his three sons Paul, Gary and Martin. Other familiar faces included comedian Barry Cryer, television presenter Gloria Hunniford, actress Bonnie Langford and lyricist Don Black.

The funeral comes after the legendary star passed away at his home in Berkshire, aged 77, following an incurable brain tumour diagnosis.

Mr Daniels death was announced by his publicist and confirmed by his son Martin on March 17th.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Ms McGee admitted that she was in ‘shock’ following his death.

She said: “I’m in such shock, it hasn’t sunk in. It’s been so quick. I don’t think Paul and I will meet again in heaven. I don’t believe in the afterlife – I wish I did.

“But Paul’s presence is still everywhere. I’m waiting for him to walk through the door.

“You don’t feel heartbroken, you feel like your heart’s been shattered. It’s like every part of your being has been torn apart.”

We send our deepest condolences to Debbie McGee and family.
