Paul Daniels Told Wife Debbie McGee 'I Love You' Moments Before He Died

On Thursday it was sadly announced that magician Paul Daniels had passed away following a battle with cancer at the age of 77.

The details of Paul’s final moments have now been shared by his heartbroken family, with wife Debbie McGee revealing that her husband used his final bit of energy to tell her that he loved her.

Heartbreaking.

Speaking to The Sun, Debbie - who was also Paul’s on stage assistant throughout his glittering career - shared: “I laid next to him in our bed and he whispered to me, ‘I love you’, and then slipped into a kind of coma.

"It was the last thing he said. Then, in the early hours of Thursday morning, St Patrick’s Day, the nurse came into the spare room where I was getting some rest and said, ‘It will be any minute.’

"I went back into our bedroom. Paul was on his side; I snuggled up beside him and held him. I told him I loved him. Eight minutes later he died.”

The couple’s son Martin shared a similar moment with his father before he passed, with the 52-year-old sharing that he sat by Paul’s side as he lay in bed, held his hand and whispered ‘I love you’.

Martin explained to the newspaper that Paul raised his hand as Martin left the room, which took place during a visit at his home a week ago.

The fellow magician added: “I didn’t know it then but those were the last three words I said to him.

"He was my dad, my inspiration, my hero and he always will be.”
