Hmmm…. Well, we can think of one or two or maybe even THREE things that’ll be a little bit different, Paul. But do go on.

“The Bake Off won’t change in the sense that the format will stay exactly the same, the tent will stay the same, the challenges and really the bakers (will not change),” the 50-year old told Jonathan Ross.

“Ultimately, it comes down to when the bakers get in the tent next year, then it will be a special thing.

“I’m really excited about it and I think it will do a great job, I’m going to make sure that we keep it the same.”

To be fair to Paul, he was probably just talking about the format rather than the UNMENTIONABLE, and explained that the technical, signature and showstopper challenges will all be present and correct when the show returns. If anyone’s watching anyway.

The celebrity baker also mulled over his decision to stick with the show despite Mary Berry and Mel and Sue deciding that life sandwiched between endless commercial breaks wasn’t for them.

“It was between the production company and the BBC and they then moved to Channel 4 and obviously it came down to … my job was still there and I didn’t want to lose my job,” he explained. “I love doing what I do.”

“We knew they were talking, there were negotiations going on. We had no idea that we were going to move until it actually happened.”

Hollywood also admits that there were “long talks” with Channel 4 which made him help with the final decision to stay put.
