When I found out Paul Mescal was nominated for an Emmy for his star-making role as Connell in Hulu's Normal People, reader, I fucking felt it. For fans of the show, Mescal perfectly embodied Connell's understated charisma, and the show—based on the Sally Rooney novel of the same name—remains a standout amidst the endless stream of highly bingeable content released during the first few months of lockdown.

Well Paul, my sweet, sweet prince, tonight's the night. I couldn't be prouder. Suited up in head to toe Louis Vuitton, Mescal looks for all the world like a feted leading-man-to-be on the precipice of worldwide adulation. Wearing Vuitton is always a flex no matter the context, but for any up and coming actor looking to position himself firmly atop the A-List there's hardly a better brand to turn to.

Since taking over as artistic director for LV's men's collections, Virgil Abloh has lent the house his signature penchant for eye-catching, red carpet-ready designs. But in a black and white image (very on brand!) Mescal posted to the 'Gram during the show, the actor kept it relatively simple in a crisp tailored suit worn on top of one of the brand's trademark DNA collar button-downs.

And hey, I tend to prefer my doses of Mescal with a tad bit more thigh in the mix but hell, I'll take what I can get. He might not have walked away with an Emmy tonight but don't get it twisted, people: Paul Mescal will be back, and he will prevail.
