What time does Paul Mescal's new thriller The Deceived start on Channel 5? Here's the lowdown

The first trailer has arrived for Paul Mescal’s next role following his breakout part in BBC’s Normal People.

Mescal, who played Connell in the drama based on Irish novelist Sally Rooney’s book of the same name, stars next in The Deceived for Channel 5.

When is The Deceived on Channel 5?

The Deceived starts TONIGHT (Monday 3rd August) at 9pm on Channel 5. The four-part drama continues over the week on consecutive evenings, and concludes Thursday 6th August.

Who's in the cast with Paul Mescal?

Mescal stars alongside a cast of Irish and English stars in the drama, which is created by Derry Girls writer Lisa McGee and Tobias Beer.

Belgravia’s Emily Reid stars in the lead role of Ophelia, while Peaky Blinders star Emmett J. Scanlan plays Michael.

The show also stars Frank Cannon (Line of Duty), Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones), Shelley Conn (Liar), Catherine Walker (Shetland) and Louisa Harland (Derry Girls).

What is the show about?

The show follows a student named Ophelia who has an affair with her professor Dr Michael Callaghan.

When Michael’s wife Roisin dies in a fire, Ophelia discovers she may be pregnant with Michael’s child, and begins to suspect that Roisin is still alive.

Mescal plays McKeough, a local builder and friend to Ophelia, as the young student tries to uncover the mystery and maintain her sanity.
