Paul Pogba sends reply to ‘lovely’ couple who didn’t recognise him on train… as Manchester United offer them chance to learn who he is along with superfan son

Paul Pogba has sent a message to an Australian couple who went viral for not recognising him on a train, while Manchester United has offered them and their superfan son the chance to watch the star footballer in action.

Nate Patrick created a thread on Twitter this week about the encounter between his parents, Lewis and Roslyn, and a rowdy group of passengers playing Uno - who turned out to be the Man Utd squad.

Pogba offered to take a photo with them but the couple, who were visiting the UK, had no idea who the Frenchman was.

They exchanged numerous messages with their son in a family group chat, before sending through a photo of Lewis with Pogba and United midfielder Nemanja Vidic.

“Nathan, you wouldn't happen to know who this is?” they asked.

Nate replied in full capitals: “The man with his arm around dad is Paul Pogba, the most expensive footballer in the world, and World Cup winner with France.”

He went on to explain that the couple quickly got bored of the chat and starting sending photos of a dog they had seen instead.

On Wednesday, Pogba replied to Nate’s tweets: “Man I need to see the dog. Say hi to your lovely folks for me!”

Manchester United also tweeted Nate, offering him and his parents the chance to come and watch the team play Perth Glory in Australia over the summer.

Nate said in his thread that his father had initially thought the photo - which Pogba offered as a way of apologising for the noise - would be just of him and his wife, and handed the footballer his phone.

He wrote: “The stranger looks weirdly at my Dad, and says (with a French accent), ‘No, no no, I am asking if you would like a photo with me, sir?’

“My Dad looks at my Mum like who on earth does this guy think he is? But also my Dad is mega-polite, and obliges to be in the photo,” he added.
