Callum Elder will miss the next three to four games after Derby County head coach Paul Warne confirmed he has suffered a groin injury.

Elder was forced off in the 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United last weekend and needed to be replaced late on in the Championship clash at Bramall Lane. The Australian, who has had an excellent start to the season, went for a scan this week but fortunately, the damage is not as severe as first feared.

But it is expected that he will not be back until after the international break when Derby will hope he can pick up where he left off after some excellent performances at left-back.

Giving an update ahead of the clash against Norwich at the weekend (12.30pm) and asked whether Elder would be available to face the Canaries, Warne said: "No, he won't be. And I'm not turning into the English Rugby Union coach and telling my starting XI.

"But in the same way I'd be telling a lie for no benefit. He won't be fit for the next three or four games. He's tweaked his groin, so he'll be out."
