Paul Warne admitted he "lost it" with Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder after he felt he laid hands on Derby County striker Jerry Yates.

The pair were invoved in a heated first-half exchange which interupted when the ball went out for a throw-in after Yates had won a tackle by the Blades dugout.

Warne and Wilder clashed which earned both men a yellow card, only the second time the former has been booked in 400 games of management.

And speaking in his press conference after the 1-0 defeat, inflicted by Gus Hamer's free-kick, Warne said he was unwilling to let anybody touch his players.

"I can tell you it straight," he said. "I've been booked in 400 games once before today which was at MK Dons for throwing a bottle of water down. There was about 50 people there so I don't know who I was threatening with my behaviour.

"My booking today was because I thought Chris touched my player and I am not having it. I wouldn't touch anyone's player. I thought he put his hands on my player and I lost it. I told him it straight.

"I said you touched my player and he said he didn't. I will look forward to watching it back and if he did I will tell him again. I don't think it's acceptable. I get on brilliant with Chris, but as the leader of men, if someone touches my player, then I would want to play for someone who looks after the lads.

"I don't like it. There are loads of things that go on the side of the pitch. You wink about decisions etc. But I don't like seeing hands on my players. If that isn't the case then I apologise because I stirred it up."
