Paul Warne said he was "really proud" of his Derby County team as they made it three wins out of three at Pride Park in the Championship with a 1-0 victory over Cardiff.

Kenzo Goudmijn's goal in the first half was enough to settle the contest as the Dutchman scored in his second successive game to seal all three points.

Cardiff did have one gilt-edged chance when Eiran Cashin headed at his own goal but Jacob Widell Zetterstrom pulled off a magnificent save.

Former Bluebirds midfielder Ebou Adams, playing against Cardiff for the first time since his move to Derby in the summer, had a glorious opportunity to wrap the game up in stoppage but steered wide of an open goal.

Asked for his reflections on the game, head coach Warne said: "Really proud. I thought we were the better team for the first hour. Losing David Ozoh affected us a little bit. We had to take Nat (Mendez-Laing) off because he is coming off the back of the internationals.

"That ruined our forward momentum and in fairness to Cardiff, I think they made six or seven changes. They kept putting fresh bodies on but it was difficult because we were playing well and you're thinking 'what can I do?' I thought if we go to a back three and defend crosses we should be all right.

"I thought it was a reasonably comfortable ending, but it didn't feel like it at the time. When the board for seven minutes went up, I was really proud of their efforts."
