Paul Warne pinpoints what wasn't 'very good' as Derby County wait goes on in Sunderland defeat
Paul Warne felt Sunderland's quality told as Derby County's search for their first points away from home in the Championship continued with defeat at the Stadium of Light,
Regis Le Bris's side moved top of the league as they secured a 2-0 win rubberstamped by a Jobe Bellingham howitzer and a strike from Wilson Isidor.
Derby battled valiantly after that with Curtis Nelson seeing a header cleared off the line. Asked for his assessment afterward, Rams head coach Warne said: "I just I didn't think we were very good, first half. I thought out of possession we were OK, but in possession, we weren't.

"Sunderland were better than us I think and obviously a 30-yard screamer that took the net off was disappointing. We've given the ball away in the middle of the park but mistakes happen in games and we got truly punished. We got the lads in at half-time and tried to gee them up. I thought we were still in it, and then the second goal obviously kills you.
"But then I thought after that we were really good. If we got a goal, when a couple of times it was fizzing around in the six-yard box, I think we get this in, the crowd was quiet.
"I thought we were in a little bit of the ascendancy. We changed our shape. We obviously made a lot of substitutions that had a real positive effect, But in fairness to Sunderland, they defended what they had to really well. And unfortunately, we come away with another away defeat, which is disappointing, but there were some good things in our play."
