September has arrived and while summer may be drawing to a close, there are still a few warm and sunny days left to savour before the chill of autumn sets in. It's wise to seize any sunshine we're blessed with, given the long winter that lies ahead - and you may still be able to squeeze in one last good day out.

One of the finest ways to relish these moments is by indulging in a delightful picnic. Be it a simple homemade sandwich accompanied by a flask of tea, or an enticing array of nibbles, nothing quite compares to a splendid picnic.

A recent study has revealed that one of England's most picturesque picnic spots is just a short drive away from Derby. Chatsworth House, nestled in the Peak District, was ranked as the third most scenic location for alfresco dining in the UK.

The Malvern Hills in Worcestershire clinched the top spot, followed by Bushy Park in Richmond Upon Thames. Another gem from the Peak District, Lyme Park, also made the top 10.

This ranking was compiled by outdoor specialists at Go Outdoors, who analysed the number of social media posts on platforms such as Instagram and Tiktok to determine the most picturesque picnic locations in England, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Coniston and Buttermere, both situated in the Lake District, also secured positions in the top ten, while Tatton Park in Cheshire claimed the seventh spot. If you do decide to embark on a picnic adventure, remember to clean up after yourself, refrain from littering and avoid using disposable barbecues.

Chatsworth is known for its stunning house and vast surrounding estate and hosts a number of successful events each year. At this year's Chatsworth Country Fair, a number of stars such as Kelvin and Liz Fletcher, Ainsley Harriott and Alan Titchmarsh all made an appearance as thousands gathered from around the UK to the historic stately home.
