Nestled just below Ladybower Reservoir, this Peak District pub offers a 14-bed hotel, homecooked food, and guided walks for all levels of hikers.

The Yorkshire Bridge Inn, on Ashhopton Road, is the perfect location for hikers to settle down for a weekend of Peak District action. With Bamford Edge just on the doorstep of the pub and a plethora of other hikes available with just a short walk away.

The pub offers guides to eager hikers staying at their Inn, with guided and picture-documented walks available from the reception showcasing some of the Peak District's most treasured spots and how to get to them.

Some of the guided walks include Bamford Edge, Derwent Edge, and Win Hill - all varying in their difficulties and lengths. The walks have been carefully constructed by the pub themselves, allowing visitors to have a handcrafted experience by the owners who have been there for over 27 years.

Landlord and Landlady of the pub, Helen and John Illingworth said: “We moved from South Devon to here and we moved here for the location mainly. You have people coming all year round, unlike Devon and Cornwall which are very seasonal. People come out in the middle of winter, the open spaces, and with a massive Rambler community here as well. It's perfect for hikers.”

The pub also offers an extensive food menu for all patrons to enjoy after a long day of dredging around the beautiful hills of Hope Valley. The menu features Derbyshire/Yorkshire classics such as Steak and Kidney pie as well as many other great options.

Mr Illingworth said: "Its always busy with people from all around the country. We get all sorts really, we get lots of people coming to hike, cycle and also we get a lot of people who just come for the location. People who want to explore the villages, or the country estates. There are so many things for people to do out here."

When Derbyshire Live visited the pub they were just about to change their menu, to the winter edition, therefore the Steak and Kidney pie is one of the only things that will still feature all year round.

The pub also boasts of its close proximity to Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, some of the country’s most famous stately homes just a short drive away from the family-owned business. Furthermore, some of the UK’s most scenic towns and villages are also just a short drive away including Buxton, Bakewell, Hatersage, and Castleton.

The drinks available at the pub are also locally sourced, with beers from local breweries and award-winning regional spirits.

The pub in its 27 years of operation has won multiple awards with the most recent being the prestigious Peak District, Derbyshire & Derby Tourism awards in 2022.
