A man was “slashed” in a horrific bottle attack in south London.

Witnesses said there was “blood all over the street” after the attack in Peckham in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Scotland Yard said it is believed a man, whose age is not currently known, was attacked with a bottle in Peckham High Street.

A large police cordon was in place in the area around Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre as an investigation was carried out.

Witnesses reported seeing blood in the road after the incident.

One, @BlackheathSally, tweeted: “Not sure what has happened in Peckham but the police have huge areas taped off and a horribly large pool of blood, bandages and bloody first-aid kit is visible from the road.”

Lucy Jackson added: “There's blood all over the street in Peckham”.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said they were called by the London Ambulance Service just after 5am.

“Officers attended. A man was taken to hospital with slash wounds. He remains in a stable condition.

“At this early stage, he is believed to have been assaulted with a bottle.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
