Pedestrian rushed to Edinburgh hospital as dog dies in collision with motorcycle

A pedestrian was taken to an Edinburgh hospital, after their dog died in a collision.

The incident, which involved a Kawasaki ZR750 motorcycle, happened at around 8.10pm on Monday at Chapel Level in Kirkcaldy. The individual was "seriously injured", with the dog pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for some time as police attended to the collision. Officers have said enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Road policing officers are appealing for information after a pedestrian was seriously injured and a dog killed in a crash in Kirkcaldy.

"The incident happened at Chapel Level in the town around 8.10pm on Monday, 23 September. The collision involved the pedestrian, a 39-year-old man, who was walking a dog and a Kawasaki ZR750 motorcycle.

"The pedestrian was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to serious but non-life threatening injuries. The dog was killed at the scene. The motorcyclist was uninjured.

"The road was closed until around 11.35pm to allow for an investigation at the scene."

Sergeant Tom Aitken, of the Fife Road Policing Unit, said: “We are working to establish the full circumstances which led to this collision and would urge anyone with information to come forward.
