Pedestrian 'trapped' under Hyundai after being hit on Stoke-on-Trent Co-op car park

Police have launched a witness appeal after a pedestrian suffered 'potentially serious injuries' in a crash with a vehicle on a shop car park. An air ambulance landed as part of the emergency services response to Sunday afternoon's collision outside the Co-op on Knypersley Road, in Norton.

The man was trapped under a white Hyundai i10 following the crash, which happened at around 12.05pm. Paramedics treated him at the scene before taking him to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. The collision resulted in the closure of Knypersley Road.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a collision between a car and a man on a shop car park in Stoke-on-Trent. We were called at 12.15pm on Sunday, to reports of a pedestrian trapped under a white Hyundai i10 outside the Co-op on Knypersley Road, in Norton.

"West Midlands Ambulance Service, Midlands Air Ambulance and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended. The man was taken to hospital by road ambulance with a leg injury not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

"The driver of the Hyundai stayed at the scene to help us with our enquiries. Anyone in the area at the time with information, including dashcam, or CCTV footage, is asked to contact."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to Knypersley Road to reports of a man who had been involved in a low-speed road traffic collision. The man sustained potentially serious injuries and received treatment at the scene before being conveyed by land ambulance to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further care."
