This was the bizarre sight that confronted workers on their way to grab a lunchtime sandwich.
A peloton of police officers blowing their whistles and zooming through the zebra crossing at the corner of Speedwell Street and St Aldates.
Video footage, taken at lunchtime on Thursday last week, showed the cog-cranking coppers zipping down the hill from Christ Church and turning right towards the Westgate Shopping Centre.
When asked by the Oxford Mail, a Thames Valley Police spokesman was unable to say whether the two-wheeled woodentops were on a training exercise or en route to an emergency.
