Penalty to Rangers snub sees Ally McCoist erupt as 'poor' Malmo ref incurs wrath of Ibrox legend
Raging Ally McCoist has slammed the refereeing team after Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers was denied a penalty during their Europa League showdown with Malmo.
Philippe Clement 's side moved into pole position just seconds into the clash in Sweden after Nedim Bajrami found the net - but things could have been even better for the Scottish Premiership side just before the break. James Tavernier whipped a dangerous cross into the box that Dessers attempted to latch on to - but he was intercepted by defender Colin Rosler as he looked to head the ball.
Referee Luis Godinho opted against pointed to the spot in the tug of war while the VAR team decided against sending the man in the middle to the pitchside monitor. However. Rangers legend McCoist was totally convinced that the officials had got the big call wrong in the Europa League as he vented on TNT Sports commentary.
The Ibrox icon proclaimed: "That is a penalty kick. That is a penalty in anybody’s book. That is really poor officiating. Really poor."
He refused to left the issue go. When asked about his view of the game by host Emma Dodds, he said: "How they have not got a penalty yet baffles me. It absolutely baffles me."
