Pence's Motorcade Causes Traffic Gridlock in Honolulu

US Vice President Mike Pence’s motorcade temporarily caused traffic gridlock in Honolulu on Monday, April 24, during a visit to Hawaii’s Hickam Air Force Base.

H-1 and H-3 freeways were shut down as the vice president was transported to the base, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and KHON 2 reported.

This footage shows a glimpse of the gridlock near H-3.

Pence’s Hawaii visit came at the end of an Asia-Pacific trip, during which he stopped by South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Australia and American Samoa. The trip was cut short by a day due to political issues in the US, including a new tax reform plan and a new spending package.

If the spending package is not passed before Friday, the government may shut down, according to CBS. Credit: Instagram/larryboy78 via Storyful
