A rockhopper penguin is getting tech savvy as he rehabilitates at Perth Zoo.
Footage shared by the zoo on August 25 shows Pierre the penguin getting to grips with an iPad, as a keeper holds the screen up to him.
According to the zoo, Pierre is by himself in the vet department, so they are showing him footage of other rockhoppers. He’s been enjoying livestreams from other zoos, and also, as the video shows, the claymation show Pingu.
He is recovering after he survived a “record breaking” swim from islands in the Indian or South Atlantic Ocean, before washing ashore on a beach in southwest Australia.
“He is experiencing feather moulting problems and is currently not waterproof so cannot be released to the wild but is receiving lots of TLC from the Perth Zoo veterinary team to get him back to full health,” the zoo said in a press release. Credit: Perth Zoo via Storyful
