Pensioner, 86, dies six days after being hit by Mercedes at Clarkston Toll

A pensioner has died six days after being struck by a car in Clarkston.

Emergency services rushed to Clarkston Toll at around 5.20pm on Friday, May 17, following reports that a Mercedes GLE had struck a pedestrian. Medics rushed the 86-year-old to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Despite the best efforts of hospital staff, the man, who was said to be in a critical condition, tragically passed away on Thursday, May 23. No one else was injured during the incident.

Road Policing Sergeant Scott Gourlay said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died, and everyone involved.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstanced and anyone who has not already spoken to officers and who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3034 of Friday, 17 May, 2024.”
