Pensioner Gored To Death Through Barrier At Spanish Bull Running Festival

A Spanish pensioner was killed during a bull running festival after being gored to death through a barrier.

Miguel Sirerol was watching the bous al carrer fiesta in the Alicante province town of Gata de Gorgos on Monday night when one of the beasts charged against the bars.

Its horn went through the fence, and caught the OAP in the chest. Sirerol - who according to various media reports is either 85 or 89 - was hit twice.

He collapsed to the ground, and bashed his head on the way down.

Paramedics rushed to the scene in the Costa Blanca town and took Sirerol to hospital.

But he tragically died during the journey, according to local media.

The Gata de Gorgos Town Council took to Facebook to comment on the horrific incident.

“We want to express our condolences to the family of Miguel Sirerol, who lost his life during the celebration of bous al carrer,” a statement on its page said.

The bull running part of the town’s week-long annual fiesta has now been suspended.

Sirerol is the fourth person to have been killed at bull running festivals in the Valencia region this year, with 50 people losing their lives since 2000.
