Yahoo News Pensioner jailed for torturing partner for eight days in row over loud radio
A pensioner has been jailed for abducting his former partner and torturing, leaving her permanently disfigured, after she asked him to turn the radio down.
Norman Watt, 67, was jailed for six years at the High Court in Glasgow after admitting locking the woman in a house in Old Mill Court in Leven, Fife, and assaulting her between August 8 and 16, 2018.
During that time Watt’s attacks included: hitting her with various objects including a bottle, walking stick, knife and belt; burning her with a lit cigarette; choking her; biting her and punching her, the High Court in Glasgow heard.
The woman was eventually rescued from the bungalow where the ordeal took place by a postman. She was found bruised and bloody and blood was also found on the living room wall.
The court heard the pair had been in an on-off relationship for around a decade.
Watt was originally charged with attempting to murder the woman, but admitted a lesser charge of assaulting her to the danger of her life.

The court heard that when he was interviewed by police, he initially claimed she was lying.
Sentencing him to six years in prison, the judge told him: "You said initially that the injuries were self-inflicted. However, you now accept responsibility for this offence.”
The court also heard there had been no contact between the pair since June.
