Pensioner Pretends To Get Run Over By Stationary Car For Insurance Cash Scam

A pensioner climbed under the wheels of a car that had stopped at red lights in an attempt to claim insurance money for being “run over”.

The driver of the car nearly ended up in jail for running over the woman - until video footage showed the elderly woman rushing to jump under the car.

Chen Liu heard sounds from under his car after stopping at a traffic light in Xiaogan city, China, and was alarmed to see a woman’s legs poking out underneath the vehicle.

He said he had immediately called the police to report an accident, and officers pulled the woman out and rushed her to hospital.

The car was then seized as part of a criminal investigation into the incident.

However, Chen was given his car back when another driver - who had been travelling behind him - handed over his dash cam footage that showed the woman ducking under the car after it stopped at the lights.

Police suspect that the old woman may have been planning to try and claim on insurance pay-out.

However they are also considering the possibility that she may have been trying to catch something glowing under the car and tried to recover it while the vehicle was stopped.

Chen was just happy to not be in jail.

He posted online: “Whatever the reason I am just grateful that the other motorist was kind enough to provide the footage which cleared my name and sorted the matter out quickly.”
