People have been banned from entering the home of a vulnerable man in Cheltenham. The property in Sun Street will be closed for three months from April 7.

It comes after local residents reported repeated anti-social behaviour and drug-related activity at the home. The closure order was granted at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, January 8.

Anyone who enters the property during the closure period without permission faces arrest and imprisonment for up to three months. It is hoped the action will help support the vulnerable man.

Sergeant Meredith Gosden, from the Cheltenham neighbourhood policing team, said: “We secured this partial closure order in conjunction with Cheltenham Borough Council and Solace as local residents had reported anti-social behaviour by those known to the tenants on a number of occasions.

"Anyone who is found in the property or attempting to enter without prior permission is committing an offence. I would like to ask those living in the area to let us know if they see this happening by calling the police on 999 for emergencies or 101 for non-emergency issues. The Solace case number is 5937.”

Cllr Victoria Atherstone, cabinet member for safety and communities at Cheltenham Borough Council, added: “We hope that through continued partnership working this action will better support this vulnerable individual and will give the community reassurance that this behaviour will not be tolerated, and that swift action will be taken to protect all, especially those deemed to be vulnerable.”
