Brits are voicing their fury over the escalating prices of Greggs' sausage rolls.

On Reddit, people have been venting their frustration about the costs. Discussion was prompted when one user posted a photo of the beloved pastries, which were priced at £1.45 for takeaway or £1.75 to dine in. It was shared alongside the exaggerative caption: "I swear it increases weekly."

Greggs fans have been reminiscing about the days when several sausage rolls could be snapped up for roughly a pound, with one person even comparing the price surge to that of Freddos – another treat that has become notably more expensive over time.

One person said: "I remember when you could get four for a quid." Another added: "I swear not long ago it was 1.05." A third replied: "When I started college in 2020 it was a quid. After two years it went up to £1.20. Seeing it progressively go up by 5p was quite the experience."

Meanwhile, a fourth chimed in with: "What's worse is that despite it being called/named 'sausage roll' they ask you if you mean 'pork sausage roll' now due to vegans getting upset they might get the wrong roll. The latter is called a vegan sausage."

Reflecting on the "good old days", consumers recalled getting more for their money in the past. They also listed other products that have been getting increasingly expensive.

One social media commentator noted: "It was 25p for a First Class Stamp, the mini cans of Coke were in the pick n mix bit of Woolworths and a 99 Flake was 99p."

Another reminisced: "I grew up watching the Fudge bars go from 10p then 15p then 20p then 25p now 30p and whatever it is now."

Meanwhile, one more added: "64p for a chicken bake in 2003. 3 sausage rolls for £1.10. 74p for a steak bake. I think I will remember this information long after I've forgotten my own name."

Greggs has been approached for comment.
