People Have Been Handing Out Fat-Shaming Cards On The Tube And No One Is Impressed

A “cowardly”, “hateful” group which “hates and resents fat people” handed this card to a woman on the London Underground.

On one side the card simply reads ‘fat’ in big letters, while the other goes on to tell the recipient that they are “wasting NHS money to treat your selfish greed” and that they are “a fat, ugly human.”

Kara, who received one of the cards as she travelled on the tube, posted the photos on Twitter.

She described them as “hateful and cowardly” adding that they could “potentially upset people struggling with confidence”.

Other social media users have also reported seeing the cards being handed out. Thomas Knox tweeted, “Young man just got on train at Oxford Circus, gave printed card saying YOU’RE FAT to overweight girl. He jumped off. She read it, & cried.”

The group, calling itself Overweight Haters Ltd, has been roundly condemned for its offensive and triggering actions - not to mention its inability to spell the word ‘beautiful’.

Others are keen to be handed a card, though.

Plenty of people will now be on the lookout for members of the fat-hating alliance. The British Transport Police has tweeted that anyone who sees the cards being handed out should report it:

TFL are also urging tube users to report any further instances. Steve Burton, director of enforcement and on-street operations, said: “All of our customers have the right to travel with confidence, and this sad and unpleasant form of antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.”

“Overweight Haters Ltd” has yet to issue a statement.
