People just discovering meaning behind white triangle symbol on clothes labels
While some laundry symbols are straightforward, such as a bucket of water with a temperature indicating the maximum washing temperature, others have left internet users utterly perplexed.
These slightly more obscure symbols on clothing labels have had people scratching their heads and begging for a simpler explanation - but thankfully, there is one.
One of these lesser-known symbols is the triangle - a common symbol.

The white triangle on clothes labels can appear in four forms; an empty triangle, a triangle with a cross through it, and a triangle with two diagonal lines through it.
It could also be a triangle with CL inside and a cross through, reports the Express.
Every form of triangle shares one common feature - they all relate to bleach.
If the triangle is empty, it means you can bleach the clothing but if there is a cross through it, it means it can't be bleached.
A triangle with two diagonal lines or a CL inside, and a cross through both indicates that non-chlorine bleach should be used.
However, it's not just the triangle that has people stumped - the other symbol which baffles people is the X.
This common symbol appears across all kinds of other symbols, and almost universally means no, but unless you know what the symbol it is crossing means, you're at a loss.
For instance, if the X appears over a bucket filled with a water symbol, that means don't put the item in the washing machine.
If it's over a peculiar symbol that resembles a sweet, it indicates not to wring the garment out. If it's over a square with a circle inside, this symbol represents a dryer - implying the item should not be placed in the dryer.
