Last night saw plenty of surprises and the likes of Jordan Peele, Frances McDormund, and Guillermo del Toro picking up top awards, but it was elsewhere that the internet was getting excited.

Despite the winners and losers both pleasing and annoying people, some of the awards presenters got a lot of praise across the board.

When Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph came out on stage to present the award of Best Documentary Short and Best Live-action Short, an online campaign suddenly erupted for the pair to team up and present the Oscars 2019 ceremony.

The comedy chemistry was clear to see, as the women exchanged quips and jokes that amused the audience and, as it seems, the crowds watching at home.

Dear White People writer and director, Justin Simien, was adamant that the women would be the perfect pairing…

It appeared that everyone had a lot of time for the women when it came to imagining them in films together, as well as on stage hosting the Oscars.

This year Jimmy Kimmel hosted the glitzy event, having presented it last year too. Over the years the hosts have been somewhat hit and miss, but it seems that people would be more than satisfied if Haddish and Rudolph paired up to take the reigns in 2019.

Past hosts have been an eclectic bunch but even the likes of Seth MacFarlene (hosting with Emma Stone) didn’t really roast the nominees or Hollywood as hard as he could have.

Other years have included Ellen Degeneres, Billy Crystal, Chris Rock, and Jon Stewart.

So a female duo would definitely be a welcomed addition to the mix.
