People are trolling the Prime Minister with savage #TheresaMayGifs
Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn faced bruising questions from a studio audience and Jeremy Paxman last night, but it’s the Conservative leader who has taken a battering on social media.
In a joint Channel 4/Sky News broadcast called The Battle for Number 10, the closest voters will get to seeing a live TV debate between the two main party leaders, both were quizzed on their manifestos, foreign policy and Brexit.
There was no clear winner, but many commentators noted that Corbyn was far more relaxed than May who stuck rigidly on message.
The result? An own goal for May, who has already seen her party’s standing slip in the polls, according to those on Twitter who mocked her mercilessly with the #TheresaMayGifs hashtag.
