The perfect winter sun spot Brits are flocking to for year-round sunshine
The stunning nation of Cape Verde is increasingly becoming a favourite among Brits seeking year-round sunshine. Spain has always been a popular choice for those looking to escape the unpredictable British weather, but more and more are venturing further to Africa's Cape Verde.
A mere six-hour direct flight from the UK, Cape Verde's ten islands offer consistent warmth, with temperatures seldom dipping below 21C, making it an ideal winter sun destination.
Each island in the Atlantic archipelago boasts its unique charm. There's no shortage of beautiful beaches featuring white sands and turquoise waters.

Some standout spots include Santa Maria Beach and Ponta Preta on Sal, Praia de Chaves on Boa Vista, and Laginha beach in Mindelo, on Sao Vicente. Beyond the beaches, there are fantastic opportunities for wildlife spotting, with whales, dolphins, and turtles often seen in the clear waters.
While Cape Verde is a year-round destination, the rainy season typically runs from July to October. In November, expect daily maximum temperatures around 29C and minimums of 23C, reports the Express.
The islands also offer numerous walking trails thanks to their impressive mountains and towering volcanoes, with Santo Antao, Sao Nicolau, and Fogo considered the best islands for walkers.
