Perrie Edwards enters Christmas number 1 race as new Band Aid single made favourite
Just a day after a new Band Aid single was made the new favourite to be this year's Christmas number 1, Perrie Edwards has entered the race, with a surprise reveal of a festive track of her own.
It was back in 1984 that the original Band Aid took the charts and the world by storm, selling an incredible 1 million copies in its first week to famously keep Wham's Last Christmas off the top spot. Band Aid II also made number 1 in 1989 and there have also been versions in 2004 to mark the 20th anniversary of Do They Know It's Christmas and again in 2014, with both of those recordings also making the top of the charts.
And now it's been revealed that a Band Aid 'ultimate' version will be released to mark 40 years since the original, as stars like Bono and Harry Styles are tipped to feature on it. The announcement on that was made on Wednesday and it didn't take long for bookies to refresh their odds to make the new Band Aid single the one to beat in the battle for Christmas number 1 2024.

However, a new contender has now come into the frame, after Little Mix star Perrie took to Instagram on Wednesday to reveal that she has been working on a little something for the festive season. Uploading a clip of the song, Christmas Magic, to her Insta grid, Perrie, who has had hits this year with Forget About Us and You Go Your Way, explained she only decided she wanted to write a Christmas song a few weeks ago, saying her inspiration was how much she was missing fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who now plays football in Turkey.
Reacting to the song, which is out on Friday, one fan exclaimed: "BEST CHRISTMAS SONG EVER" as Perrie's PR and close friend Simon Jones, whose wedding she sang at last year, commented: "BEST CHRISTMAS SONG EVER "
