A person had to be cut out of their vehicle last night after being involved in a crash in Edenfield Road, Rochdale.

They reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to high speed and reports say they went through a fence and into a field.

The vehicle also took out a speed camera which was seen scattered in the field.

Emergency services were called where the person had to be cut out of the vehicle.

The person suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital by Northwest Ambulance Service.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Shortly after 11pm on Friday 17 March, firefighters were called out to a road traffic collision on Edenfield Road, Rochdale.

“Two fire engines from Rochdale and Ramsbottom – and a Technical Response Unit from Ashton-under-Lyne - attended the scene where a car had collided with a speed camera and was overturned in a field.

“Crews used cutting equipment to free one casualty, who had suffered a head injury, from the vehicle who was then conveyed to hospital by North West Ambulance Service.

“Firefighters were at the scene for one hour.”

North West Ambulance Service has been contacted for a comment.
