Person dies at Hamilton train station as emergency crews swarm platform

A person has died following an incident at a Hamilton railway station.

Emergency services rushed to Hamilton Central at around 4.28pm on Tuesday, October 22, following reports of a medical emergency. A person was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquires are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Hamilton Central was sealed off by emergency services yesterday with trains unable to call at the station.

It is understood that the incident happened near platform two.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Hamilton Central railway station at 4.28pm (22 October) to reports of a medical emergency.

"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to their death.”
