Person found dead on train tracks

A person has died after being found on train tracks. Emergency services were called to Broad Green railway station at around 5pm on Monday, November 18.

It followed a report of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics attended and person was pronounced dead at the scene. British Transport Police confirmed the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Trains running between Liverpool Lime Street and Huyton were cancelled on Monday while emergency services dealt with the incident. Passengers were told trains running between Liverpool Lime Street and Huyton may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 120 minutes or revised.

Affected routes were the Northern trains between Ellesmere Port / Manchester Airport and Liverpool Lime Street, and also between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Victoria / Wigan North Western / Blackpool North.

TransPennine Express also saw disruption between Manchester Airport and Liverpool Lime Street and between Liverpool Lime Street and Stalybridge / Oxenholme Lake District / Newcastle / Glasgow Central.
