A person has been freed from a vehicle after a serious crash on the A303 in Somerset on Sunday evening (June 16), around 50 miles from the Devon border.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed fire crews were called to the two-car crash at around 6.57pm in Ilminster. Three fire engines and a heavy rescue unit were all sent to a report of a road traffic collision involving one car and one small truck on the A303 near Ilminster.

A fire spokesperson said: "One person was still trapped in one of the vehicles, so crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the casualty and hand them over to the Ambulance crews." The conditions of those involved in the collision is not yet known.
