Person hit by train on major line as Scotrail late night services axed

A busy rail line was closed after a person was struck by a train.

Emergency services raced to the scene near Broughty Ferry at around 10.45pm on Saturday night.

Network Rail confirmed that there was a casualty on the tracks between Dundee and Montrose with services cancelled.

The line between Dundee and Aberdeen was shut while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Bosses at ScotRail told travellers on social media that services between Arbroath and Dundee were affected.

Disruption to services between Dundee and Aberdeen carried on until the end of service on Saturday.

Scotrail confirmed on Saturday morning services had resumed around 7am.

Network Rail and British Transport Police have been contacted for comment.
