Police have confirmed a person has been rushed to hospital this afternoon after a van crashed into a south Essex home.

Rayleigh Road in Eastwood has been blocked in both directions between Nobles Green Road and Dandies Drive this afternoon.

Emergency services are on the scene after a van crashed into a home on the street shortly after 12.55pm today (January 25).

Essex Police have confirmed a person is being rushed to hospital after sustaining a potentially serious injury following the crash.

A spokesman for the force said: "One person has sustained a potentially serious pelvis injury and is going to hospital for treatment.

Essex Fire and Rescue have also confirmed two people were trapped inside the van. Crews worked to rescue them for more than an hour.

A fire service spokesman said: “Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on Rayleigh Road, Eastwood at 12.55pm.

“On arrival, crews reported that a van had collided with a house and two people were trapped inside the van.

“Crews worked to rescue the two casualties by 2:11pm and they were both left in the care of the ambulance service.”
