Person seriously injured in M62 crash as closures remain in place

A person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash on a motorway.

Emergency services were called to the westbound carriage of the M62 between junctions 9 and 8 following the crash which happened at around 5.30am on Thursday, July 11. The crash involved two lorries and a car.

The access links from the M6 to the M62 have also been closed to ease congestion on the approach to junction nine. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed at around 6.30am, firefighters were working to rescue people trapped at the scene.

Cheshire Police confirmed one person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. A police spokesperson was unable to confirm if the casualty was a man or woman.

The westbound carriageway remains closed between junction 9 and junction 7 while emergency services work at the scene. National Highways said the closure is likely to remain in place during the afternoon.
