Man Surrounded by Security After Dave Chappelle Attacked on Stage
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) says a man who tackled Dave Chappelle on stage during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles late on May 3 was armed.
Local media. cited police as saying the suspect, 23-year-old Isaiah Lee, had a replica gun containing a hidden blade.
Footage from inside the venue showed someone tackling the comedian, who was performing as part of the Netflix Is a Joke festival.
This video from outside the venue, taken by Dale Earnhardt, shows a person surrounded by three members of security as a crowd look on.
A voice can be heard saying: “get your f***ing hands off me!”
Further footage showed a man being booed as he was loaded into an ambulance.
According to ABC 7 and NBC Los Angeles, police said Lee had been taken to hospital with superficial injuries.
In a statement to Storyful, the LAPD said Lee was arrested at 10.50 pm for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Neither Chappelle nor officers were injured, the reports said.
