Person taken to hospital as air ambulance spotted landing in Darlington field

A patient was taken to hospital for injuries this morning in Darlington, after numerous residents noticed an air ambulance land in a field.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service was called shortly after 9am today (Monday, March 27), along with an ambulance from the North East Ambulance Service.

The air ambulance was spotted on a field behind Ridsdale Street in the Eastbourne area of Darlington.

A spokeswoman for the Great North Air Ambulance Service said: “Our critical care team were activated to an incident in Darlington at 9.03am.

“They arrived on scene at 9.11am and worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient’s injuries.

“The patient was taken to hospital by the North East Ambulance Service, accompanied by our team.”

A concerned resident, Megan Blakely-Fisher, posted into the community Facebook group, You Know You’re From Darlo When, about the incident, with images and videos of the air ambulance.

Sarah Taylor said: “I heard it fly over my house near Yarm Road.”

Jenni Ton-i Louise Qualtrough said: “It few over the top of the block of flats in Dinsdale Crescent they were all dressed in red hope the person is okay.”

The North East Ambulance Service was approached for comment.
