Personal trainer insists common 'low calorie breakfast' is bad for losing weight
There's nothing like a good breakfast - after all, some say it's the most important meal of the day.
It sets up your morning, gives you instant energy and keeps you full for the few hours ahead. But it's no secret that some foods are better to eat than others.
If you're trying to lose weight, one personal trainer says there's one breakfast you should never eat. Tom Hull, known as tomhullpt on TikTok, said a single piece of toast can set you back on your journey.
In a recent video, he explained: "Having one single piece of toast for your breakfast is a very bad idea if your goal is to lose weight. And, I know what you're thinking, this is only 180 calories, so actually it's a pretty good idea.

"But let me explain to you why. So you've got your piece of toast, and you even think, I'm not going to have butter because that's just extra calories I don't need. Even though you think this is the right thing to do because you want to lose weight, it's low calorie, it's a small portion - that isn't always the best approach. Give it 20 minutes, you'll find yourself in the fridge, back in the cupboards, looking for more food because that hasn't filled you up."
For every meal you eat, Tom said it's important to tuck into a decent portion. The personal trainer claims you need to get a good amount of protein and volume with each and every meal.
He said this is the key to feeling full, so you don't constantly find yourself looking for more food to eat. When you get your portions right, you'll feel the urge to snack much less often.
Since the video was shared, it's been viewed more than 1,000 times, and people have been quick to share their thoughts too.
One person wrote: "You shouldn't worry about calories for breakfast. It's the meal that keeps you going so, if anything, shouldn't you want more calories for breakfast?"" Another said: "Breakfast is super important [...] high protein is best then after that lunch you can have when you feel."
