A personal trainer has revealed the routine he used on the treadmill to shed 50lbs - and you do not even need to run.

Trainee CharleyChefs took to TikTok and revealed how he lost the weight with a simple and repetitive weight loss plan. It meant he did not have to do any running or extensive cardio but keeping things simple may mean it is easier for those struggling with their weight loss to incorporate into their own diet.

Charley captioned his post: "Treadmill routine that helped me lose 25kg" and then walked people through how they can repeat the same process he did on his weight loss journey.

He revealed: "For everyone trying to lose weight this is the treadmill routine that got me from this to this, 50lb down and no running required. We all know that cardio can be boring [...]."

His choice words preceded some advice from the personal trainer, who suggests a steep incline and consistency are all that you need to shed the pounds. Charley said: "Instead of having 12 meals a day, we're gonna set that incline to 12 instead, f*** off the drive throughs, we're gonna set that speed to 4.5.

"This helped me a lot through my weight loss journey but high protein and being in a calorie deficit are just as important." Members of the public who say they tried this system out have said the weight loss was steady for the duration of the treadmill plan. One wrote: "I lost 2 stone in 6 weeks doing this."

Others were less appreciative of the hack and said they would rather experience their walk in the great outdoors. They wrote: "I'd rather go for a scenic walk along the moors. Nothing more boring than walking on a treadmill looking at a white wall."

The NHS advises those wanting to lose weight to try walking for health as it is "simple, free and one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier".

Their advice reads: "Sometimes overlooked as a form of exercise, walking briskly can help you build stamina, burn excess calories and make your heart healthier. You do not have to walk for hours. A brisk 10-minute daily walk has lots of health benefits and counts towards your 150 minutes of weekly exercise, as recommended in the physical activity guidelines for adults aged 19 to 64."
