Pete Doherty expecting his first child with wife Katia de Vidas
The Libertines frontman Pete Doherty is expecting his first child with wife Katia de Vidas.
The couple confirmed the happy news in a new interview with French magazine Society, revealing that they will be expecting a baby girl in May.
The pair, who are based in Normandy, told the publication that they’re forming “a solid and protective clan”.
It’ll be Doherty’s third child, as the singer is already a father to son Astile, 19, with singer Lisa Moorish and daughter Aisling, 11, from a former relationship with South African model Lindi Hingston.
In December, MailOnline previously reported that the singer announced during his gig in Strasbourg that the couple were expecting a child.
In recent years, the Northumberland-born star has swapped the UK for a more tranquil existence in rural France with his wife.
The former Babyshambles singer married Katia, who performs in his band, in a private ceremony in September 2021 – two days after confirming their engagement.
The couple wed at the Domaine Saint Clair hotel in the French city of Etretat while The Libertines and their band Puta Madres provided music.
His life couldn’t be more different now then when he first shot to fame in the mid-2000s as the frontman for indie band The Libertines, but found nationwide attention when he dated supermodel Kate Moss.
Last year, the music star revealed that he has no earlobes as they were both bitten off in fights as he battled drug addiction.
The 43-year-old, who has been clean for three and a half years now, made further claims that he has “chunks missing” from all over his body.
Recalling how his ear injuries came about, he said: “I was swinging at the paparazzi in Italy – the guy took his camera, had me by the throat and bit off part of my earlobe.
“Someone else bit off part of my other earlobe in a pub in Stoke. I think he just wanted a souvenir,” he told The Guardian last year.
His body has taken a real battering over the years with the musician previously sharing how he very nearly lost his feet because he had “run out of veins”.
“I was really pushing the limits. There were a few close calls really. I nearly lost my feet and horrible things like that,” he told The Mirror.
“It was very close, just because of the injecting. That’s what happens when you run out of veins. It all seems so long ago now though but it was a hell of a ride.”
