Pete Wicks is 'not a great dancer' says Strictly Come Dancing professional

Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Brendan Cole has said that Pete Wicks is "not a great dancer". Pete has been partnered with Jowita Przystal for this year's series and has been going from strength to strength each week.

While speaking with Sky Vegas, Brendan opened up about how he feels about Pete's progress in the competition. He expressed: "He [Pete Wicks] is one of those people I didn't think I would like on the show but I'm liking him more and more because he's immersing himself within the show.

"He's not a great dancer, but isn't that what the show's about? Somebody that's not a good dancer becoming a dancer for a short time and getting involved."

Brendan went on to commend Pete for his progress each week and can see him staying in the competition.

The dancer continued: "I feel like he's improving each week and he's understanding a bit more what he has to give. That's a good thing for Strictly so I'd quite like to see him there for several more weeks just enjoying his journey of getting better.

"A lot of couples just stay the same the whole time – [Tasha Ghouri] will stay the same. She's brilliant and she'll stay brilliant for the whole competition. You want a little bit of a journey, which is nice. He's a good-looking man, he's got a bit of mystery about him, so it's good for the show. The judges obviously like it and Jowita [Przystał]."

Pete and Jowita danced to George of the Jungle on Saturday

On Saturday's episode on BBC One, Pete and Jowita performed a samba to George of the Jungle for movie week. The pair dressed up in animal print and showed off plenty of skin as they danced together on the dance floor.

The two were awarded a score of 26, which left them third from last on the leader board. Reflecting on his performance on the night, Pete confessed: "I absolutely hate the film, but I absolutely love the samba. George loves the samba."

Brendan Cole was speaking to Sky Vegas. Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6:20pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
