Peter Andre delights fans by wishing Katie Price's son Harvey happy birthday

Peter Andre and Katie Price’s relationship has always been tempestuous to say the least, with the singer facing severe backlash last year when Katie claimed that he no longer saw her oldest son, Harvey.

Peter was stepdad to Harvey during his three and a half year marriage to the former glamour model, but reportedly cut all ties with the teen when they split.

However, it appears that Peter’s relationship with Harvey has now taken a turn for the better after he took to social media to wish the teen a happy birthday yesterday, also revealing that he’d bought his former stepson some presents.

Peter delighted fans when he took to Twitter to write: “Happy birthday to a very special boy :))) hope you like your prezzies”.

Responding to the message, one follower wrote: “This is so sweet! Happy Birthday Harvey.”

Others added: “Bless you, what I like is a devoted dad.”

“Unconditional love, happy birthday Harvey!”

Peter’s message came after Katie shared a video montage in tribute to her oldest son on his 15th birthday, also treating Harvey to a day out at Thorpe Park with his family.

Back in 2015, Peter shocked his fans when he referred to his brood as a “family of five”, referencing his biological children with Katie, Princess and Junior, as well as his first-born child with wife Emily MacDonagh, Amelia.

Addressing the backlash surrounding his relationship with Harvey, Peter explained at the time: “I don’t see him [Harvey] all the time, but I see him at events like the kids’ sports days.

“Also, there have been a few times recently where he’s been to my house and I’ve been to his. Harvey will always be special to me and I just want him to be happy. He’s a great kid!”

However, last summer Katie revealed that Peter had walked out on his stepson, whose father is footballer Dwight Yorke, telling fans: “We have gone on a journey, me and Harvey, and all I know is that no one will ever take him away from me.

“When you divorce you have to share the kids. But with Harvey there’s no one.

Katie is fiercely protective of Harvey.

“Well, look, Dwight don’t want to know. Someone else doesn’t see him anymore. He’s just got me, you know?”

Following up in December, Katie added that Harvey gets upset when Princess and Junior go to see Peter, sharing on Loose Women: “Junior and Princess go and see Pete but Harvey doesn’t, and Harvey is aware of it.

“I’d love him to go but he doesn’t go, and he’s always aware.

“Junior and Princess go and see daddy on Thursday and Fridays and whatever but there’s nothing you can do.

“Some people stick to things, some people don’t but it’s sad when it does affect kids when they’ve got step-dads

“Not meaning that horribly – but it’s not nice for Harvey.”

Here’s hoping that this year’s birthday presents and message means that Peter is well and truly back in Harvey’s life.
